Zoya Grigorievna Osmanova, 93, of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at St. Mary Health Care. She was born April 13, 1924, in Baku, USSR, to Grigorii Gefter and Evgenia Pertsik Gefter.
On August 22, 1970, she married Vladimir Borchukov in Moscow and he preceded her in death on September 17, 2002.
Zoya worked as a Professor of Literature in Moscow Institute for World Literature before coming to the United States. She was a member of Temple Israel and enjoyed music, reading, traveling and nature. Zoya was a wonderful, vibrant person, open-minded and open-hearted. She was an inspiration and a joy to her family and to her many students and friends.
Surviving are her daughter, Amina (husband Andrei Gabrielov) Gabrielova of West Lafayette and step daughter, Luydmila (husband Anatoly Dverin) Straupe of Boston, and two grandchildren.
Service will be at 10:00 am on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, Rabbi Michael Harvey officiating. Interment will be at Temple Israel Jewish Cemetery in Lafayette.
