My sincerest condolences. I am just finding out about this news. I am so sorry to hear this. To Larry: I am not sure if you were aware that I interviewed Bill for a project at Indiana Wesleyan University and had to post it online. I had a wonderful time talking with Bill. I am so glad this memory of him was recorded. What a blessing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. https://archive.storycorps.org/interviews/bill-letson-his-korean-war-experiences/

I first met Willie when I was out walking one of my dogs. He stopped and talked to me about how well my dog behaved. Then i would run into him at Walmart on occasion and he would always stop and talk. Several times I would see him out in the neighborhood and he always had a story to tell. He was a wonderful man to talk to. I’m going to miss him.

Dear Larry and. Kyle — We are so saddened upon the passing of your dear Dad and grandpa. He was such a sociable and fun-loving gentleman. He sold us tickets to one of the Mid-America Jamboree in its early years. Our names were drawn later that night for the free weekend that next year! We became Boosters after that year’s free Mid-America and the rest is a history of friendship with Willie and Betty ! Now, they are together again in their eternal rewards. I had the privilege of meeting Willie at Walmart on 350. He had a Marine baseball cap on and I thanked him for his service. He stopped and we talked for some time. His spouse had passed as had mine recently. He reached in his pocket and handed me his card and told me to stop by and see him sometime. I still have that card and I will think of Willie often. R I p Willie
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Larry, Bob and I always enjoyed talking to Willie at Golden Corral and Bob and Jimmy were with him on his honor flight. He spoke often about how he missed his wife. Together again. I pray you are doing well. You are a fantastic son!
