William D. Gregory, 87, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Franciscan Health Lafayette. He was born December 7, 1938, in Williamsport, IN, to the late Sam and Fern (Barlow) Gregory. Bill graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and on July 24, 1982, he married his soulmate Denise (Cherry) Bowers in Lafayette, and she survives.
Bill owned and operated Gregory & Son’s Construction Company for 60 years and retired in 2019 at the age of 81. He was a member of Moose Lodge, 40 & 8 and Navy Club Ship 12.
Surviving along with his wife is his son Shane (Michelle) Bowers of West Lafayette, grandchildren David Hicks, Christopher (Allison Frees) Williams Sheena (Chris) LaMar, Michael Martin, Duane (Samantha) Bowers, Noah (Faye Rowell) Martin, great grandchildren Zander (Angel) Hicks, Gavin Hicks, Riley Hicks, Ronin Hicks, Ruby Frees-Williams, Vera Frees-Williams, Gideon Clendenen, Juliette LaMar, Welles LaMar, Gwendolyn Boaz, Elenore Boaz and great-great grandchildren Zadie Hicks and Lennox Martin. Bill was preceded in death by his sons Billy, Chris and Dana Gregory, granddaughter Samantha Gregory and his brother Robert Gregory.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Pastor Ross Terry officiating.
