Wayne L. Ewbank, 79, of West Lafayette, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born July 12, 1946, in South Bend to the late Leland M. and Evelyn J. (Micinski) Ewbank. He was a 1964 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in South Bend and continued his education graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University in 1969. On Sep 2, 1967, he married the love of his life, Ruth I. Vuskalns in West Lafayette.
After his discharge, he worked at Duncan / Landis & Gyr as well as creating his own business, Accuturn. Wayne worked as the Manufacturing Lab Manager at Purdue University for 27 years until his retirement. He was also a United States Army Veteran and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Wayne and Ruth had a passion for traveling. As such, they have visited all seven continents and all 50 states, especially enjoying time spent at Crater Lake, Glacier National Park, and Lake MacDonald. The couple has visited Alaska several times beginning on their 25th Anniversary. Also, for their 25th Anniversary, Ruth bought him a 1966 GTO convertible which he enjoyed along with his other “Big Boy Toys” such as his Bobcat, tractors, and backhoe. Above all, Wayne cherished time spent with his family.
Along with his wife Ruth, he is survived by his two children, Michael Ewbank and Kristi Kauffman; three grandchildren, Jeremy Ewbank, Leland Kauffman, and Ruth Kauffman; six siblings, Rodger (Elaine) Ewbank, Maureen Knipper, Anne (Kevin) Downey, Lucia (Charles) Anderson, Steve (Julie) Ewbank, and Dennis Ewbank; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Evelyn and his godfather, Harry “Perk” Miciniski.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 13, 2026, from 3:30 to 6:30 pm at Gathering Acres Event Center / 5074 E 550 S, Lafayette, IN 47909.
