Wayne Ethmer Swank of Lafayette, IN passed away Monday, July 24, at his home. Wayne was born June 9, 1942 in Lafayette, IN, to the late Dallas and Marie (Blue) Swank. He married Pamela (Smith) Swank (later divorced), but they remained devoted friends.
Wayne worked at Alcoa, Tippecanoe School Corporation, and retired from The City of Lafayette.
Wayne was a cowboy at heart who loved all the things about owning, riding, brushing, and just being with his many horses and dogs. Wayne was also an avid sports fan. He always cheered for the Bears and St. Louis Cardinals but loved the Indiana Hoosiers. He coached baseball and basketball (both boys and girls) and loved teaching the game while also making it fun. Above all were his grandchildren. He loved taking them horse riding and was the biggest fan at any of their sporting events. That was his true passion.
Wayne is survived by his 2 sons, Gary (Sally Craig) Swank and Jason (Meela Phelps) Swank, 8 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Calyb, Morgan, Conner, Cameron, Eli, Creyton, and Sammy, and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Marie Swank, and best friend Pamela Swank.
At Wayne’s request there will be no services.
