W. Arlon Garriott, 77
W. Arlon Garriott, 77, of Lafayette, died at 1:03 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Central.
Born March 9, 1933, in Jasper County, he was the son of the late Hurby and Lilly Hurley Garriott. He graduated from Mulberry High School and was a Korean War veteran, serving in the Army from 1953 to 1955.
Mr. Garriott worked in the purification department at Eli Lilly for many years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 11. He enjoyed playing golf, watching Purdue sports and the Chicago Cubs.
On Feb. 3, 1968, he married Lela M. McDonald, and she preceded him in death on Oct 4, 1999.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Penelope “Penny” L. Sturm (husband: Cyril) of Lafayette; two stepsons, Robert B. McDonald (wife: Sherry) of Lafayette and Thomas McDonald of Clarks Hill; and a brother, David Garriott (wife: Norma) of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Friday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Service there at 1 p.m. Saturday, Pastor Joseph Bell officiating.
