Fr. Tom McDermott, OP left a message on August 12, 2023:
I met Ginny for the first time three years ago when I arrived at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Center at Purdue as pastor. I had not met her, nor her late husband, before coming here although my mother, Evelyn Leamer McDermott, and uncle, Norris Leamer, had met Varro when they were all children. I remember watching Varro on CNN during my many years serving in Nigeria. A kind parishioner of mine who knew Ginny arranged for the two of us to meet during the height of the pandemic. After that, I would often see her on my way to celebrate Mass on Saturday evenings at Westminster Village. My condolences to her children, in-laws, grand children and great grandchildren.

I used to be a server at Westminster Village where Ginny lived. She would always come to the dining room for meals with a smile and a happy attiude. She was a kind lady and had many friends. She was polite and a joy to have been known, in a small way. May she RIP.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Ginny was a wonderful and gracious lady whom we knew from 1977 when I (Marc) joined the Purdue Pharmacy faculty. She always encouraged me in my musical pursuits and came to many of the Bach Chorale and Westminster Village programs that I was involved in. I have thought about her often since we moved to New Orleans in 2015. She was one of our favorite people in the West Lafayette community. Our condolences to her family, and may she rest in peace. She is one of the angels.
