Virginia H. Aper, 89, of Lafayette died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at St. Anthony Health Care. She was born November 5, 1925, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Harry and Margaret Probst Harrer. Virginia was raised in Queens, NY and was proud of the being from New York. She graduated from Vocational High School in Jamaica, NY in 1943 and on December 5, 1943 she married William Aper in Jamaica,NY and he preceded her in death on February 5, 1972. Virginia was a secretary at Wabash Center from 1968 until retiring on December 1, 1987. She had previously worked at Andover Corp. for 10 years. Virginia was a member of St. Paul Community Church and enjoyed gardening, working in her yard and was an avid New York Yankee's fan. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grand children. Surviving are her children Mary Hollis (Jerry) of Lafayette, James Aper of Crawfordsville, Tom Aper (Eileen) of Orlando, FL, Jack Aper of Orlando, FL, William Aper (Pam) of Summerville, FL, 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by a daughter Kathy White and 2 sisters. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Memorial service will be 7:00 PM Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating.
