Thomas A. Mack, 63, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Franciscan Health East, surrounded by family.
He was born February 5, 1962, in Cincinnati, OH, to the late Harry Patterson and Nancy Fortner Mack.
After high school Tom earned his BS in education from Rio Grande College in Ohio and later earned his RN degree from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. He was a brother of the Delta Epsilon chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity at Rio Grande.
On September 23, 1989, he married Christy (McCauley) Mack in Buck Creek. They celebrated 36 years in September.
Tom was a caring and helpful person who found his calling working as a nurse. Starting his 30 year career at Home Hospital, and finishing it at Franciscan Health East, working everywhere from the emergency room, to the float pool, to the EmPATH unit. Beyond helping his patients, he enjoyed working with his many coworkers throughout the years.
Tom enjoyed being involved with his kids’ lives by helping to coach their youth sports teams, serving as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader for Pack 3310 and Troop 310, and serving on the McCutcheon football Chain Gang, which he continued doing for 19 years. Throughout his life he enjoyed woodworking, from Pinewood Derby cars to making various toys and games, including rattles for his grandkids; visiting Disney World with his wife and family; and spending time with his dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Christy Mack of Lafayette; three sons, Alex (Anna) Mack of New Palestine, Nick (Aimee) Mack of Columbus, OH, and Evan Mack of Indianapolis; three sisters, Debbie (John) Petro of Mattawan, MI, Kathy (Bob) Love of Kent, WA, and Sandy (Pete Zimmerman) Mack of Missoula, MT two sisters-in-law, Ann Robison of Thomaston, ME, and Sandi Horn of Oxford, OH; and his three grandchildren who he adored, Vivian, Elizabeth, and Henry.
Tom was preceded in death by his two brothers, Chuck and Bill Mack.
Funeral services will be held Monday December 22, 2025 with the visitation from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, and the service starting at 7:00 pm at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing or the Delta Epsilon chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi at the University of Rio Grande.
