Thelma M. Taylor

Thelma M. Heffley Butler Taylor, 96, of Lafayette, died at 5:50 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Clarian Arnett Hospital.
Born Jan. 1, 1913, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Nettie Roth Heffley.
In 1933, she married Glen R. Butler; he died in 1961. She then married Denvil M. Taylor in 1965; he died in 2001.
She had worked as a seamstress at Loeb&s Department Store and Vogue Cleaners for several years.
She attended First Christian Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and playing cards.
Surviving are three sons, Byron E. Butler (wife: Judith) of Lafayette, Larry D. Taylor (wife: Martha) of Alamo and Rex A. Taylor (wife: Lana) of Vero Beach, Fla.; and a daughter, Kathy A. Carlton (husband: Jeff) of Nazareth, Pa.
Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Thelma was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Fitzgerald.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, the Rev. Greg Eberhard officiating. Interment at Rest Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to the American Heart Association.
