Tammy Denise Townsend, 46, of Lafayette, passed away at 5:40 pm Sunday, October 18, 2015 at St. Elizabeth East ER. She was born March 26, 1969, in Charleston, MO, to Lonnie Richardson and Delores Douglas. After she graduated from Charleston High School in 1987, she married John Townsend and they later divorced. She grew up in Charleston, MO with her Grandmother, Elizabeth Douglas. She moved to Lafayette, in 1998 from Charleston, Mo. She was a home healthcare aide for 10 years for several local organizations, but currently worked for Voestalpine as an inspector. Tammy was a loving mother, daughter and grandmother who loved her family unconditionally. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, music, and loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Taneika Peterson, Marquis Peterson (Lakisha), Torian Townsend and DeShonte' Townsend; her mother, Delores Douglas; siblings, Romeka Douglas, Markeda Douglas and Deonna Douglas. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jaylin Peterson, Ava Townsend, Kevin Braxton, Leashia Peterson, Zerrion Peterson, Leairah Peterson and Zacarius Peterson. She was preceeded in death by her father, Lonnie Richardson, grandmother, Elizabeth Douglas, and grandson, Ziris Peterson. Visitation will be Saturday Oct. 24, 2015 from 10am until the time of the service at 11am at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN Pastor Ervin Tate will be officiating. Burial will be at Meadow View Cemetery.
