Susan E. Keenan, 81, of West Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Franciscan Health East.
She was born on December 13, 1944, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Edward and Susanna (Eisenmann) Wasilak.
Susan earned her nursing degree from Mercy Nursing School, Pittsburgh, PA, in 1966, beginning a lifelong career devoted to caring for others. She proudly served her country as a member of the United States Air Force, stationed at Holloman Air Force Base.
During her time in the Air Force, she married Timothy Keenan on April 11, 1969, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. After a brief time in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Susan and Tim made their home in Lafayette, Indiana. There, she worked as an Emergency Room nurse at Home Hospital for more than 30 years. She later continued her nursing career as an employee health nurse at Eli Lilly and Company’s Tippecanoe Laboratories for over a decade.
Upon retirement Susan enjoyed reading, traveling and most of all shopping. She continued her dedication to serving the community as a member of the Alpha Delta Chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma, proudly serving the Greater Lafayette area. She was a regular attendee of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Lafayette, IN.
Susan was recently privileged to participate in the Honor Flight Network trip to Washington, D.C., a recognition she deeply cherished and a reminder of how proud she was to have served her country.
Surviving are Husband, Timothy Keenan of West Lafayette, IN and three children Jennifer Keenan of West Lafayette, IN, Heather Keenan of Goodyear, AZ, and John Keenan (Devon) of Lafayette, IN. Three Grandchildren, Clara, Leia and Lucas Keenan. Her brothers Ronald Wasilak (Patricia) of Murrysville, PA and Phillip (Karen) Wasilak of Holly Springs, NC.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Edward M. Wasilak and Susanna C. Wasilak of Pittsburgh, PA.
Susan is remembered by her laughter and sense of humor. She always made holidays special and never missed an occasion to celebrate. Sue had stamina to shop until everyone else drops and had great love of all things Irish, having visited the country several times. She will be remembered most for her devotion and never-ending love of her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on March 9, 2026, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette.
Mass will be at 11:00 am at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 2224 Sacramento Ave, West Lafayette, IN, followed by interment at Spring Vale Cemetery.
