Steven Bruce Taylor, 59, of Lafayette, IN, formerly of Brookston, IN, passed away at 4:01 AM on May 28, 2014. Born on July 19, 1954 in Elwood, IN, he was the son of Bill G. and Iva Smothers Taylor. He graduated from Madison Heights High School in Anderson, IN in 1972. He married Terry Kline Aldridge on April 5, 2013 in Lafayette. Steve completed a sheetmetal/welding apprenticeship at General Motors in Anderson in the early 1980s. He was a fabricator/welder in the Central Shop area of the Maintenance department at Caterpillar in Lafayette from March 21, 1983 until his retirement after 30 years of service on May 1, 2013. Steve enjoyed barefoot water skiing and scuba diving. He obtained his private pilot's license in 1990 and liked taking his family, friends, and co-workers for airplane rides. Steve also was a member of Star City Corvette Club. Surviving along with his wife, Terry, and parents Bill and Iva Taylor of Anderson, IN are a son, Michael S. Taylor (wife Kathryn) of Indianapolis and two grandsons, Drew and Luke Taylor. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Tamara Middleton (husband Bill) and Jason Aldridge. Friends may call at Soller-Baker Funeral Home from 5 until 8 PM on Friday, May 30th, 2014. Funeral Service will be 10 AM on Saturday, May 31st, 2014 at the funeral home, followed by interment in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette, IN. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Riley Children's Foundation.
