Scott D. Rasmussen, 65, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, at IU Health Arnett Hospital. He was born December 1, 1960, in Kenmore, New York, to Thomas W. Rasmussen of Noblesville and the late Shirley (Olson) Rasmussen. Scott graduated from Noblesville High School in 1979 and Purdue University in 1983. On February 20, 1994, he married Rebecca Love in Lafayette.

Scott was a Sales Engineer for Plug Power, formerly Custom Alloy, for the past 15 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and volunteered with FEX Tech at Lafayette Jefferson High School. Scott loved life and especially enjoyed traveling, skiing, hunting, boating, fishing, golfing, camping, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his daughters, Erin E. Rasmussen of Cincinnati, Ohio; Ashley C. (Joshua) Kaminsky of Lafayette; Samantha E. (William) Simmons of Carbondale, Colorado; and Chandler T. Rasmussen (Hayden Reece) of Lafayette; his granddaughters, Scout H. Kaminsky and Quincy L. Rasmussen-Reece; and his brother, Stephen W. (Jean) Rasmussen of Westfield, Indiana.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until the time of the service at 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society, Grace Lutheran Church or Jefferson High School Music department in Scott’s memory.

I’m very sorry for your loss. Scott was truly one of the great ones. He was always kind, genuine, and wonderful to work with. He will be deeply missed, and I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to know him. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Scott and I were best friends from 7th grade through the end of high school. Though we went our separate ways after that, we never lost touch and the bond between us endured over time and distance. My heart goes out to the entire Rasmussen family. Scott, I will miss you so much!

Rest in peace Scott. He was a true gentleman. May the Lord be with the family that he loved so much.

Dear Rasmussen family, So sorry to learn of Scott's passing at such an early age. I worked with him at the former Lafayette Regional Office of Indiana Gas Company on S. Creasy Ln. where he was an industrial sales rep in the 90's. He was a positive upbeat person and very pleasant to work around! You are in my prayers.

Although our mutual high school and college paths ended when we graduated, Scott and I remained in touch now and then through social media. It was clearly evident to me how close he was to his family, and how very proud he was of his beautiful daughters. For those of us who believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we have the peace of knowing that with each day, we are one day closer to being reunited with those who have left us, and while we remain on this earth, we strive to be better people because of them and in their memory.

Scott was kind, genuine & funny ... the guy in the orange hat! He gave so much time to the kids in choir and tech at Jeff. He was a great role model and taught so many things to those around him. He will be missed by many. Prayers the memories give you peace.

I am SO saddened to hear of Scott’s passing. We worked together in high school, continued our friendship at Purdue, and he was an usher in my wedding. Two years younger than me, he was like a little brother who always made me smile. He had the best personality and sense of humor. It’s been a long time since we talked, but he will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in peace, old friend.
