Scott Brown, age 60, passed away at his home on Sunday May 7th, 2023, after a courageous yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. Scott was born on June 4th, 1962, in Plymouth, Indiana to his mother, Julia McCabe (Poor) and his father, James Brown. Julia and James had two older sons: Mike Brown and Dave Brown. James later married Dee Brown and they had two children: Angie Eads and Ted Brown. Julia later married Dave Poor and they had one son: Ryan Poor. Scott graduated from Seeger Jr.-Sr. High School in 1981. Classmates remember Scott as the class clown with a big heart and the life of any party. After graduating from high school, Scott enlisted in the United States Navy. Scott proudly served as a Navy air traffic controller from 1981 to 1986. Before Scott was honorably discharged from the Navy, he was stationed in California and the Philippines. After serving in the Navy, Scott started working at Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA). At SIA, Scott was promoted to Team Leader and dedicated 30 years of service to the company before retiring in 2020. Scott married the love of his life, Jacqueline “Suzie” Cox (Brown) on July 2nd, 1994. Scott and Jacqueline had two daughters: Lauren and Rachel Brown. During their 30 years together, Scott and Jacqueline loved to travel, attend sporting events, and spend time with their girls and pets. Scott was an avid sports fan who rooted for the Purdue Boilermakers, Chicago Cubs, and Indianapolis Colts. Scott will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and strong work ethic. Scott was a beloved son and brother, loving husband, and dedicated father. Scott will be dearly missed by all his friends and family. Surviving with his wife, Jacqueline, are: his dad, Dave Poor; 2 daughters, Lauren Brown and Rachel Brown; and 5 siblings, Mike Brown (Theresa), Dave Brown (Sheri), Angie Eads (Tim), Ted Brown (Carol), and Ryan Poor (Erin). Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Scott was preceded in death by his mother Julia, and his father James and stepmother Dee.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Soller-Baker Funeral Homes in Lafayette on Friday, May 12th, 2023. Friends and Family will be received from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A service will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a military honor service performed by the American Legion Post 11.
