Scott A. Notary, 23, of Lafayette, died Saturday November 16, 2013 in a house fire at his home in West Lafayette. He was born October 21, 1990, in Lafayette to David Notary (wife Sharon D'Amico Notary) and Margaret Favorite (husband Ed Lausch), all of Lafayette. Scott graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 2009 and was weeks away from graduating from Purdue University in Building and Construction Management and starting his career in TN. Scott served as president of Purdue's student chapter of the Restoration Industry Association. In high school, Scott played tennis and ran cross-country. He loved to fish and hunt and be outdoors in the woods or on the beach. Scott loved animals, especially his dog, Griffin, who perished with him in the fire. His good nature won him many friends and endeared him to all who knew him. Scott was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteered for Jubilee Christmas and Habitat for Humanity. Surviving along with his parents are his brother Charles Notary of West Lafayette, sister Grace Notary of Brooklyn, NY, stepbrothers Joshua Lausch of Houston, TX, and Matt Moore (partner Steven Mucci) of Raleigh, NC, stepsister Heather Jacobs (husband Robert) of Connersville, IN, grandparents Elizabeth Favorite of Mishawaka, IN, Don and Joyce Notary of South Bend, IN, and numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Scott was preceded in death by grandparents Roger Favorite, Catheryn and Ralph Lausch, and his cousin, Rebecca Kelch. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Friends will be received 1 hour prior to a 11:00 AM service on Friday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev. David Doane officiating. Those wishing to may contribute in Scott's name to the Almost Home Humane Society or the West Lafayette Fire Prevention Week Fund.
