Sarah Ellen Hopkins, 93, of West Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Westminster Village in West Lafayette.

She was born October 15, 1926, in Williamstown, PA, to the late Harry and Ethel (Thomas) Haas.

On April 15, 1954 in Sioux Falls, SD, she married Curt Young Hopkins and he survives.

Prior to her marriage in 1954, Sarah received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Shippensburg College, and worked as a elementary and special education teacher in Harrisburg, PA. She also taught school in Sioux Falls, SD and Deerfield, IL before retiring after over forty years of teaching in public schools.

She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, and Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed Crafts, Sewing and making gifts for hospital patients .

Surviving along with her husband is a daughter, Jill Lynn of Lafayette, and a son, Todd (Valentina) Hopkins of Fredericksburg, VA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Tristan and Angelique Lynn and Steaphan (Alicia) Hopkins and Leathan Hopkins as well as two greatgrandchildren, Harlan Lynn and Finn Hopkins.

Sarah was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Neubert

A private family service will be held at Soller-Baker Funeral Home
