Russell W. Harshbarger, 79, of Clarks Hill, peacefully reunited with the Lord, while surrounded by family in his home on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024.
He was born on December 30th, 1944, in Frankfort, Indiana to the late Walter and Hazel Harshbarger (Suter). Russell was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters. He is survived by one sister, Debra Harshbarger (Lebanon), and several nieces and nephews.
He married Ruth Harshbarger in May of 1997. Russell worked at Eli Lilly for over thirty years and retired in 2005. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering in his garage, watching football and basketball games, reading his bible and daily devotions, as well as history and trivia books, and watching his favorite shows on Netflix. His all-time favorite activity was napping, the man loved his naps! Russell was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan for many years, and both took pride and found joy in tending to his beautiful flowers. He looked forward to going mushroom hunting and getting out and about with his wife, and couldn’t wait to attend the Covered Bridge Festival and New Earth Festival in the fall with his kids. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and held those moments dear to his heart. Russell loved a house full of family and laughter which even extended to Ginger, his six-year-old, four-legged companion.
Surviving are his son and daughter, David (wife Missy) Harshbarger of Stockwell and Chasity (husband Jeff) Kuxhausen of West Lafayette. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Kayla Harshbarger (Fiancé Jacob Denmark), Derick Harshbarger, Branden Kuxhausen, Hayden Kuxhausen, and Brayden Kuxhausen.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.
