Loving husband and father Roy W. McKnight, 80, of Lafayette died Thursday morning March 15, 2012 at his residence. He was born May 16, 1931, in Chicago to the late Francis E. and Grace McKnight.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force from December 28, 1950 to May 18, 1955. On May 1, 1954 he married the love of his life Jeannette Smith in England and she survives. Roy was a Manager for Jewel Foods in the Chicagoland area, retiring to Tenn. where he created his beautiful paradise that he loved and cherished. He was a member of the American Legion in Gallatin, Tenn.
Surviving along with his beloved wife are his children Lynda Brankle ( fiance? Larry Carter) of West Lafayette and Curtis A. McKnight (wife Jane) of Monticello, grandchildren Greg McKnight (wife Katy) of Merrillville, and Sean McKnight of Monticello, Ryan Colburn (wife Megan) of Crown Point, Courtney Brankle of Chesterton and step granddaughter Julie Whitaker ( husband Chad) of Lafayette. Also surviving are great grandchildren Alexis, Ana and Josie McKnight & Braedon, Tyler and Ellie Colburn as well as step great grandchildren Kyle, Noah and Ellie and a sister Lorelei Gadbois of Roseville, CA. Roy was preceded in death by a grandson Brandon McKnight and brothers Elwood, Eugene, Chuck and Jimmy and sisters Dorothy, Marian and Louella.
Visitation will be 2 hours prior to a 5:00 PM service Saturday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Entombment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
