Rosalee “Rose” Johnson, 80, passed away in her home on Monday, November 6. Rose grew up in Battle Ground and graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1961. After graduating, she married James “Ed” Johnson. They were married 42 years. Together, they had four children: Connie Johnson, Beverly (Lenny) Million, Bryan Johnson, and Ronald Johnson. Rose enjoyed raising her children. There are many fond memories of camping as a family and going to amusement parks. She especially loved visiting Tennessee, including places like Dollywood and Opryland.
Rose worked at Duncan Meter, then Andover, Inc. After retiring, she spent her time caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, working puzzles, and watching tv. Rose is remembered for her love of Christmas time, especially enjoying The Grinch, and admiring Christmas lights. Rose spent her entire life providing for, and taking care of, the people she loved. She was always good for a laugh, some banter back and forth, or a warm hug when you needed it.
Her decades-long friend, Joyce Kinslow, said Rose was the best friend a person could have. Rose and Joyce did everything together. They enjoyed going to basketball games and traveling to other towns for festivals. Joyce had to drive, so that Rose could enjoy the scenery. They started their families at the same time and continued to be foundations in each other’s lives. Up until Rose’s passing, their favorite thing to do was to have lunch or coffee together whenever they could.
Rose truly was one of the most caring and selfless people to grace this world. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, her son Bryan, and her son-in-law, Lenny. Rose leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. In doing so, her warmth and love will forever be missed, but she will always be in our hearts.
