Ronald K. Schutz, 90, of Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette.
He was born February 12, 1934, in Lafayette to the late Kenneth and Hazel (Wagoner) Schutz. He was a graduate of Buck Creek High School and served honorably in the United States Army from 1954 – 1956. On March 22, 1959, Ron married his best friend and love of his life, Joyce Shirar, the couple recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Joyce preceded him in death on April 15, 2024. Ronald worked as a meter reader for Public Services.
Ron enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and would sell his herbs to Payless Grocery Store. He also enjoyed woodworking, and fishing with his grandsons. In his younger years, he enjoyed raising rabbits and would raise guinea pigs for local pet stores. He cherished spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, and especially loved taking them to Chuck E. Cheese for HIS birthday.
Ron is survived by his 2 daughters, Linda (Dennis) Hamilton of Lafayette and Lisa (Ron) LaFon of Battle Ground; 4 grandchildren, Kellie (Scott) Mistic of Hope, KS, Jamie (Corey) DuPuy, of Brookston, Monica (Jeff) Ward, of Brookston, Luke (Abbi Branch) Hamilton of Salem, OR, and Jared (Emma) LaFon of Brookston; 9 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Blake, Griffin, Cru, Avery, Easton, Maddie, Mason, and Mackenzie; and 1 sister, Kay (Howard) Lafever of West Lafayette.
Along with his wife Joyce and his parents, Kenneth and Hazel; he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda McCord.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am, Monday, July 8, 2024, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Inurnment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, 1718 W. 350 N., West Lafayette, IN 47906.
