Robert Lee Egelhoff, 82, of West Lafayette, died at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Indiana Veterans Home. He was born December 19, 1929, in Lafayette to the late Harry W. and Libbie Niswander Egelhoff.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from March 21, 1951, to March 20, 1953.
Mr. Egelhoff worked at Brown Rubber from 1948 to 1962 and later for Ross Gear, Lafayette School Corp. and Weatherford DMC in Houston as a machinist for five years. He retired in 1980. He also worked at CSX Railroad as a runner and Beeson?s for a short time. Mr. Egelhoff enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He was member of the Eagles 347, American Legion Post 11 and the Moose Lodge. In August 1957, he married Frances M. Cowgill; they later divorced and she passed away on April 3, 2007.
Surviving are his two sons, Frank L. Egelhoff, Lafayette, and James R. Egelhoff, wife Betty, Ocala, Fla.; two daughters, Tami Campbell, husband Tom, and Karen McDaniels, all of Lafayette; two sisters, Mary Reece, Missouri, and Beverly Moore, Lafayette; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Egelhoff; and a sister, Loretta Shedron.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2?3 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel
Funeral Service will follow at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel; Indiana Veterans Home chaplain Rev. David Hess presiding.
Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
