Robert L. Cassman, 84
Robert L. Cassman, 84, of Lafayette, died at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at Creasy Springs Health Campus.
He was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Lafayette and was the son of the late Herschel and Gertrude Lewis Cassman. He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School.
On June 30, 1951, he married Joan Yochem in Earl Park. She died April 14, 2009.
Mr. Cassman worked for Ladis & Gyr as an electrician for many years.
He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and American Legion Post 11. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. His hobbies were doing home projects, watching old Western movies, working on his own automobiles and homes, and he was a fan of Purdue sports.
Surviving are two sons, Gery B. Cassman (wife: Amber) of Safford, Ariz., and Kevin D. Cassman of Toledo, Ohio; a daughter, Charlene S. Williams of Decatur, Ill.; and a brother, Tom Cassman (wife: Mick) of Valpariso.
Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Bryce, Kyle, Jack, Lacey, Ashlee and Morgan. Preceded in death by a sister, Loveda Cassman Taylor.
Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at St Mary Cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Cathedral, Fr. Daniel Gartland officiating.
