BROOKSTON ? Robert J Lathrop, 85, of Brookston, died at 2:01 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Central.
Born Feb. 8, 1926, in Woodman, Wis., he was the son of the late Arthur and Bertha Noggle Lathrop.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
In 1959, he married Doris Ross in Lafayette. She survives.
Mr. Lathrop worked at Sears and Overhead Door Company, retiring in 1979. Mr. and Mrs. Lathrop also owned and operated Ken-Do Lake for many years.
He was a member of Carpenters Local 215. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard and spending time with family.
Surviving are five sons, Robert E. Lathrop (wife: Vickie) of Asheboro, N.C., Terry L. Lathrop (wife: Jannine) of Monticello and Tony R. Lathrop (wife: Stephanie) and Tom D. Lathrop (wife: Patricia), both of Lafayette, and Teddy J. Lathrop of Brookston; and two sisters, Phyllis Tutwiler of Danville, Ill., and Ruby Watson of Littletown, Penn.
Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by eight siblings.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Funeral Service 10 a.m. Friday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Burial at Danville National Cemetery, Danville. Those wishing may contribute to American Cancer Society.
