Robert H. Schneider died January 4, 2022, at the age of 94.  He was a former resident of Sandusky, Ohio.  Prior to his death he moved to West Lafayette, Indiana, in order to be near his family after the death of his wife.  He resided at Westminster Village.

His local family includes daughter, Sally Lowrey (Chuck), grandsons, Patrick Lowrey (Lauren) and Michael Lowrey (Lindsey), and great-grandchildren, Jeremy Lowrey, Brady Lowrey, Brooks Lowrey and Madison Jo Lowrey.

He married Joanne Meckstroth on August 17, 1951.  They were married for 64 years.  She preceded him in death in 2015.

He had a broad career in education and school administration in both Ohio and Kentucky.  He was an active volunteer with many Sandusky social service organizations during retirement.

His other children include Robert M. (Susan) Schneider living in Scotland; Anne Belsito living in Overland Park, Kansas; and Thomas Schneider (Betty) living in Centreville, Virginia.  He has a total of ten (10) grandchildren and eight (8) great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 3pm-7pm at Pfiel Funeral Home Sandusky Chapel, Sandusky, Ohio on January 13, 2022. Funeral Service in Robert’s home church Trinity United Methodist Church in Sandusky at 11:00 am. Officiating Pastors Doug Winner and Diane Bell. Burial in Oakland Cemetery Sandusky, Oh.

Please accept my sympathy. Being a former Buckeye Village resident, along with the Schneider family, I knew the family well. Mr. Schneider was my school's superintendent and taught us to respect our elders. We also learned to respect our school, our town and its residents. To this day, I cannot allow myself to walk on a school lawn. Sidewalks were made so that we would respect the property of others. I have so many memories and lessons learned under his tenure. I wish students today could also have that same kind of person in their life to prepare them for life's experiences. He and Joanne depended so much on each other and now they're together again.
