40 years ago when we first came to Purdue, Bob and Linda went out of their way to make us feel at home, and I will always remember their kindness. Over the years I learnt much from him, especially about the art of teaching, on which he was a true master. His books we re amazingly clear, and I tried to emulate them. I feel lucky to have had him among my mentors who created a nurturing environment for younger faculty to grow. My sincere condolences to his family.

As an undergraduate I was always hearing what a great teacher Prof. Pierret was. Unfortunately, I never had the experience of being a student in one of Bob's classes. Bob was a member of my Ph.D. advisory committee and a colleague and collaborator for many years. That gave me the opportunity to experience his clarity of presentation as was teaching ECE 305 using his great text, Semiconductor Device Fundamentals. My condolences to Linda and Bob’s family.

I'd like to extend my condolences to Professor Pierret's entire family. Although I had not spoken with him for many years, his guidance as my major advisor from 1971 through 1974 and subsequent discussions offered guidance throughout my entire career. He challenged me to always understand "why", not just "how". He is definitely one of the smartest people I have ever known. His family should be very proud of him. I know I feel blessed to have known him. Bruce Roesner

I am very sorry to hear about Bob's passing. My condolences to Linda, Bob's family and friends. I worked with Bob at Purdue on some projects related to upgrading the undergraduate teaching labs and it was a real learning experience for me. Bob was dedicated to Purdue. He was proud of the tax work he did later for AARP and it helped a lot of people. He will be missed.

My condolences to Linda and the rest of Bob's family. Bob was my boss in ECE for many years. He was wise, kind, fair, and had a fun sense of humor. He used his many gifts to help others. The world was a better place with him in it. -- Andy Hughes

To Bob’s family, I extend my condolences for your loss. Bob was my major professor for my Ph.D. from 1972-75. I learned a lot from him, especially in his class on MOS devices and during my research. I had a very successful career in the semiconductor industry, thanks in part to him. I fondly remember his laugh and the Wolf Bros. cigars. When I came up the stairs, I knew he was in if I smelled the cigars.

Linda, I am deeply saddened to learn of Bob’s passing. You may remember me from the many years I served as Bob’s colleague at Purdue ECE. Bob was an amazing colleague, and perhaps the most organized person I have ever met. Almost every time when someone thought they had a brand new idea, Bob would pull out a piece of paper from his meticulous records proving beyond any doubt that “it had been tied before”. Needless to say, he was the resident historian of ECE. I will miss him. Ragu Balakrishnan
