Robert Bloom, 86, of Lafayette, IN, died Friday, October 21, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Crawfordsville.
He was born October 19, 1925, in the Bronx, NY, to the late David and Bellah Gertenzang Bloom.
He served in the United States Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. On 08/06/1968 he married Bettie Fell in Greenwich, CT. Bob?s greatest joy was spending time with his grandson Jacob and with his special friends James and Jackson. Surviving along with his wife are children Allan Bloom wife Janie, Long Beach, NY, Ronald Bloom, Lafayette, IN and Michael Bloom companion Kristen, Lafayette, a brother Morton Bloom, Sunrise, FL; three grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a brother Herbert Bloom.
Memorial visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd.

Dear Mrs. Bloom;
My name is Kathi Dallas, and my husband Rob was with the men from Harvest Chapel, that went in that last Thursday he was at Soldier&s Home. It was his first time coming to visit, and your husband thought he was his son. Of coarse my husband felt such a connection with him right away that he went along. He leaned his head on my husband&s shoulder, and said how much he missed him. My husband told him he loved and missed him too! When it was time for my husband to leave he told Bob he would be back next week. Well you know the rest. We would have been to his showing, but we just found out about his passing.
We just wanted you to know what a blessing this has all been for us, and how it taught us all something. My husband had just gotten the courage, as a shy person, to do his first loving out reach for the Lord. This has shown him how very important it is for us to obey the Lord quickly, when He says He has something for us. first,the person He is sending you to could miss a blessing, but mostly you could miss the blessing He has for you! Your loved one was that blessing for my husband, and I. We just wanted to thank you, and the Lord for choosing us to share in this blessing!
