Rita Anne Crowell, 86, of Lafayette, was called home to God on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital.
She was born March 25, 1937, in Lafayette to the late John and Velma (Ringwald) Rohrman.
She was a 1955 graduate of St. Francis High School in Lafayette. On April 29, 1967, she married Billy E. Crowell, and he survives. Rita had several careers throughout her life, these included working at Lafayette National Bank for 8 years, working in catering for several years, and for Painter Accounting in tax preparation.
Rita was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Lafayette and was a faithful follower of Christ. She enjoyed going to church and her passion was to serve Him. She was dedicated to her faith and said her rosary every day. She was an absolute Saint here on earth and will be missed very much by many.
Rita enjoyed sewing, baking, crocheting, knitting, playing cards, and especially being a housewife and mother. She also liked to travel to Spooner, Wisconsin where her mom and dad lived. Above all, she loved getting visits from her grandchildren and her great-grandchild.
Along with her husband Billy, she is survived by 2 sons, Scott D. (Pamela) Crowell and Michael J. Crowell both of Lafayette; 6 grandchildren, Korbyn (Jay) Jessee, Patience Crowell, Aubrey Crowell, Austin Crowell, Ava Crowell and Avery Crowell; and 1 great-grandson, Brantley. Also surviving is her brother, Bernie Rohrman of Spooner, WI; 2 brothers-in-law, Jim Morehouse and Paul Andrews; and a sister-in-law, Linda Rohrman, all of Lafayette. As well as way too many nieces and nephews to list, but please know, she loved you all!
She was preceded in death by her 3 brothers, Don (Maisy) Rohrman, Joe (Lorraine) Rohrman, both of Spooner WI, and Bob Rohrman of Lafayette; and 6 sisters, Eunice (Charlie) Christian, Marie (George) Tyrrell, Maxine (Nick) Switzer, Mildred (John) Kennedy, Leota Andrews, and Cathie Morehouse, all of Lafayette.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of Mass at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at St. Mary Cathedral, 1212 Columbia St., Lafayette, IN 47901 with Father Daniel Gartland officiating.
Interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, 1718 W. 350 N, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
