Richard Wayne Towne, 87, of West Lafayette, IN, formerly of Elmwood, IL., died at 9:40 PM Sunday January 1, 2012 at Indiana University Health in Lafayette, IN. Wayne moved to Lafayette in 2006 with his wife Berniece.
Wayne was born June 28, 1924, in Milo, IL. to the late Howard and Mary Johnson Towne.
He graduated from Farmington High School in Farmington, IL
On May 27, 1950 he married Berniece Elizabeth Johnson in Brimfield, IL and she survives.
Wayne was a life long farmer and co-owner of the T&T Grain Co. retired in 1998. Wayne was devoted to his wife of 62 years and his daughter Marsha.
Surviving are wife, Berniece E. Towne, West Lafayette, IN; daughter, Marsha B. Rhees (husband Mark), West Lafayette, IN; three sisters, Betty K. Avery, Peoria, IL, Joyce Tompkins, Galesburg, IL and Margery Clark, Jacksonville, IL.
Preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy A. Greenstreet.
A private celebration of Wayne?s life will be held at a later time.
