Richard Elmer Sinclair, 82, of West Lafayette, formerly of Ajo, AZ passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Cumberland Point Health Campus in West Lafayette.
He was born December 8, 1938, in Warren, Oh to the late Richard G. and Eleanor Sinclair. He was a graduate of Warren Harding High School in Warren, OH and continued his education at Hiram College in OH and Westminister College in PA earning his Masters Degree in Education. On July 28th, 1963, he married his best friend and love of his life, Mary Ann Ruark. Richard and Mary have celebrated 57 years of marriage together.
Dick started his adult life as a Junior High Teacher and later worked for NASA in the Space Mobile Program finishing as a Regional Coordinator. He then worked for Greater Lafayette Public Transportation Corporation as a Bus Driver for 36 years until his retirement in 2012. He really enjoyed driving and his favorite route was the Gold Loop and he really enjoyed meeting and talking to the college students on the bus. In 2000, the Bus Company recognized Richard by awarding him the Dallas Award. Upon his retirement, Dick and Mary moved to Farmington, NM where Dick was very active in the Bonnie Dallas Senior Center and would spend his winters in Why, AZ at Coyote Howls RV Park.
Along with his wife, Mary, Richard was a proud father to 3 children, M. Kathy (Bill) Stephenson of Buffalo, WY, R. Todd (Amber) Sinclair of Celina, OH and J. Andrew (Shari) Sinclair of West Lafayette; 10 grandchildren, Caleb (Jill), Daniel, Abigail, Jonathan, Peter, and Titus Stephenson, Collin, Shelby, Grace, and Ruby Sinclair; 4 great-grandchildren, Hope, Patience, Blessing, and Benuiah Stephenson; and 1 brother, John (Ann) Sinclair of Warren, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Eleanor.
