Richard E. (Dick) Metzger, 84, of Lafayette, passed away today at home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Lafayette on February 9, 1934, to the late Joseph F. and Frances (Spitznagle) Metzger. He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School, Class of 1953 and attended Purdue University.
Dick was a plumber and pipefitter by trade and a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union #157.
On December 14, 1985 he married Andrea L. (Williams) Weaver in Carrollton, KY and she survives.
His hobbies included collecting classic Mustang cars, antiques, and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
Along with his wife Andrea, he is survived by his son Joseph Metzger (Laurie) of Lafayette; daughters Suzanne Ryan (Dave) of Attica, Marisa Marcussen (Bill), Diann Kirby (Jeff), Theresa Cooper, Melissa Bridge-Hruskovich (Roger), all of Lafayette and Wendy McMann (Chip) of Lebanon; 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joseph Metzger; a sister, Mary Sanchelli; a daughter, Denise Albrecht; and a grandson, Justin Cooper.
In lieu of flowers, family requests contributions to Alzheimer’s Association or Lafayette Catholic Schools.
