Richard D. Grimes, 68, of Lafayette, died at 4:31 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 13, 1942, in Lafayette, and was the late Russell Vernon and Frances Louise Orr Grimes.

His marriage was to Karen Sue Wray, and she survives.
Mr. Grimes worked 31 years at Alcoa before retiring in 1997. He was a veteran of the Navy.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Kenneth Lee Grimes (wife: Amanda) of Camden and Timothy Wade Grimes of Lafayette; three brothers, Charles Grimes (wife: Carol) of North Carolina, Jimmy Grimes (wife: Judy) of Lafayette and David Grimes of Mulberry.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son Russell William Grimes.

Tim, I don&t know if you remember me but I was a counselor at BGjr high. I remember you so well. You were always a neat kid! I am so sorry about your dad. What a tragedy. I just wanted to let you know that you have not been forgotten over all these years!

I am bereaved to hear if Dick&s passing away. He was a very good friend of mine. We saw each other at Alcoa about every day, for the whole 31 years that he worked there. Dick was one of the most generous fellows that I have had the priviledge to meet. He will be sadly missed by many.

brother real well; but had worked around him a time or two. Losing a sibling like that is never easy! I know the feeling all too well. Dale has been gone 5 1/2 years, 18 Aug. 2005!

This is Pam Watkins, I don&t know if you all remember us, I am Russell Watkins daughter, ( Red) dad worked with Dick at ALCOA until his death in 1988. We used to come out to your house and all to visit. Tom Powell, Dick and dad were real close.
