Rebecca Yvonne Cornell

Rebecca Yvonne Cornell, 54, of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 after a battle with cancer at IU Health Arnett Hospital.

She was born February 10, 1971, in Lafayette, IN.

Yvonne graduated from McCutcheon High School with the class of 1989 and earned her medical assistant certificate from Harrison College.

On July 2, 2009, she married Jeffrey Cornell in Lafayette and he survives.

Yvonne had worked as a painter and cleaner for several years.

She was a member of The Church, and enjoyed family, reading, cookouts, frogs and birds both tropical and exotic, country drives and watching a good movie.

Surviving along with her husband Jeff are children, Jessie (fiancé Matt DeRoller) Little of Rosedale, Joshua (Kristan) Rainey of Romney, Jacob (Sydney) Rainey of Bringhurst, Jaden (Jasmine Brubaker) Rainey of Wabash, Elizabeth Cornell of Lafayette and stepdaughter, Marlena Rainey of Indianapolis.  Her father, Harold G. (Katherine) Bass, Sr. of Greenhill, and her mother Rebecca L. Bass of Lafayette, a brother, Harold Bass, Jr. of Lafayette, stepbrother, Raymond (Amanda) Spencer of Lakeland, FL, and stepsister, Aaron Dyson of Lafayette. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and her fur baby Gypsy.

Yvonne was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Samantha Rainey and her grandparents, Franklin Weaver, Eva Weaver, Sherman Bass and Retha Bass.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until the time of the service at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, with Pastor Dan Reece officiating.
