Ralph Louis Ebner, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the age of 83 in Lafayette, IN.
Ralph was born in Rochester, NY, to parents Ralph and Dorothy Ebner before moving to Cuyahoga Falls, OH. As a high school student, Ralph and his family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where he met his wife, Joanne (O’Neill) Ebner. Ralph was a graduate of St. Leo University (St. Leo, FL). Upon graduation, he and Joanne moved to Livonia, MI. Ralph and Joanne returned to Florida (Hobe Sound) in 2001 following his retirement from General Motors after a 35-year career, during which he earned his MBA degree. Along with his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Linda Ebner.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Joanne Ebner; his sister, Catherine Bridget Altwies (Alexandria, VA); four sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Mary Ann Ebner (Bristol, RI), Marty and Christine Ebner (Calabasas, CA), Paul and Paige Ebner (Lafayette, IN), and Neil and Sarah Ebner (Glen Ellyn, IL); six grandchildren, Liam, Jonas, Luke, Keira, Wyatt, and Conrad; and 16 nieces and nephews.
Ralph was a devoted, loving, and unconditionally supportive husband, father, and grandfather. He took tremendous pride in the accomplishments of others, especially his sons, and was never happier than when celebrating their successes and encouraging them through life’s challenges. Ralph could always be counted on for help, advice, or quiet support, no matter the circumstance or time of day. His generosity, loyalty, steady presence, and willingness to step in without hesitation touched countless family members, friends (he truly knew no strangers), neighbors, and colleagues throughout his life.
