Ralph Douglas “Doug” Sigman, 70, of rural Montmorenci, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 1, 2026 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana. He was born November 20, 1955 and was a 1974 graduate of Benton Central High School.
He married Krystal Kerker on September 27, 1986 at the Montmorenci Cemetery Chapel.
Doug was a lifelong farmer, recently retired in 2021. He spent several years driving a semi across the United States back in the 80s and early 90s. The greatest joys of his life were his girls: Krystal and their daughters. They went on countless family vacations and have so many fond memories of those times spent together. Doug instilled a passion for farm life in his daughters who both have careers in agriculture.
Doug had so many friends from all over. He was a one-of-a-kind guy who could get along with anyone, who would lend a hand to those in need, and was someone you could always count on. In recent years, he spent the winters in Okeechobee, FL, enjoying the warmth with Krystal and his friends down South.
Doug is survived by Krystal, his loving wife of 40 years, and their two daughters, Taylor (Theran) Bixler and Shelby (Cody) Hornaday, and his grandchildren, Wes and Bonnie Bixler and Everett and Hattie Hornaday. His grandchildren meant the world to him and he so enjoyed the times when the whole family could be together.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Sigman (1986), his mother, Diane Mills Sigman (2020), his brother, Michael Sigman (1976), and his sister, Denise Sigman Culver (2021).
Doug will be missed by so many. Our hearts are heavy with such a great loss. The family would like to thank the team of nurses at IU Health for caring for Doug in his final days.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 5th, 2026 from 4-6 PM at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway W. West Lafayette, with a memorial service to follow at 6 PM.
