Surrounded and comforted by his wife and children, Phillip “Phil” C. Callahan, 73, of Kokomo, formally of West Lafayette, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at St. Vincent Kokomo hospital. He was born October 18, 1948 in Lafayette, IN to the late Joseph and Mary Aveline Callahan.
Phil graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1966. He was an active member of the Dance and Marching Band there as a drummer. Following high school, he carried on his avid love of drumming and acquired a love for photography and taking road trips in their Miata, tinkering with his cars, as well as traveling our country, serving his church in past years, just to name a few of his favorite things to do. Phil also served our country in the United States Navy and retired after a 43 year career as an Inspector with Alcoa in Lafayette, IN.
Phil accepted Christ as his Savior in his 20’s and was confident of his eternal salvation at the time of his passing.
Phil was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother James Callahan, and his daughter Amy Richardson.
Phil leaves a loving and caring legacy to be carried on by his wife of 19 years, Susan “Susie“ Callahan, Kokomo, his daughter Angela (Ron) Dalton, Denver. His stepdaughter Ann (Dave) Lomack of Tucson and his stepson Troy McClintock and granddaughter Ashley McClintock, Sacramento.
Phil is survived by two siblings, Becky Boone of Grants Pass, OR and John (Debbie) Callahan, of Lafayette. Also survived by nieces, nephews and many close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Calvary Chapel Church, Fellowship Hall, 2111 State St. Lafayette, IN 47905
