Paul G Reed, 93, of West Lafayette, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023, at Westminster Village in West Lafayette.
He was born May 7, 1930, near Oxford, to the late Rufus and Mary (Kingry) Reed. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving three years, including 14 months in the Army of Occupation in Japan. After his honorable discharge, he worked for the New York Central Railroad as an operator and agent for eight years. During that time, he attended Indiana Business College, where he received a Senior Accounting Diploma in 1956. In 1959 he moved to Rensselaer where he worked as the accountant for Home Finance Company, Inc.
On November 20, 1960, he married Mary Margaret Sayers at the Church of the Nazarene in Rensselaer. Mary preceded him in death on June 15, 2015. In 1971, the couple moved to Indianapolis where he was employed by the U.S. Small Business Administration Indiana District Office. He retired from that agency as Chief of the Finance Division in 1992. The couple then moved to Monticello, where they enjoyed living on the river for 7 years before moving to Lafayette in 2008.
He was a life member of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and Amvets. He was also an Associate member of the Navy Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Paul is survived by 4 sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Reed, Judy (Kinnie) Messer, Ellen (Charles) Sayers, and Karen Sayers; 3 brothers-in-law, John Sayers, Charles (Ellen) Sayers, and Kinnie (Judy) Messer; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret (Sayers) Reed; parents, Rufus and Mary (Kingry) Reed; his sister and brother-in-law, Mildred (Clarence) Ade; brother, Glen Reed and brother and sister-in-law, Raymond (Maria) Reed; sister-in-law, Mary Sayers; brother-in-law, Jim Sayers, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 am (EST), until time of memorial service at 11:30 am (EST), Monday, November 13, 2023, at Soller-Baker, West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette, IN 47906 with Pastor Linda Sproull officiating.
Inurnment will follow at 1:30 (EST), at Memory Gardens of Rensselaer, 8435 IN-114, Rensselaer, IN 47978.
