Paul E. Dietz, 74, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Westminster Health Care in West Lafayette. He was born February 21, 1952, in Ridgway, PA, to the late Paul and Florence (States) Dietz.
Paul graduated from Elk County Christian School in St. Mary’s, PA, and received a Bachelor degree from Penn State University in Environmental Engineering as well as a Masters degree in Engineering Management.
On July 11, 1986, he married the love of his life Joy Garland Weaver in Maytown, PA and she survives. Paul was a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) who worked on, among other projects, the Twyckenham Train Bridge in Lafayette, IN, which his family refers to as “Paul’s bridge”.
Paul enjoyed traveling, reading, games, movies, fishing and hunting. He was an avid Penn State sports fan, especially football and wrestling.
Surviving along with his wife are his children Eric (LeighAnn) Dietz of Carmel, IN, Julie Dietz of Dover, PA, Christopher (Alexis) Balmer of Lafayette. Paul was a proud grandfather to Samuel, Veronica, Ian, and Abigail. He delighted in hearing about and sharing their accomplishments. Also surviving are his siblings Maryetta (Joe Bliskey) Dietz of Ridgway, PA, and Robert (Elaine) Dietz of Hampton, VA.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of the Celebration of Life at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Stidham United Methodist Church, 5300 S 175 W, Lafayette, Rev. David Boyd officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Parker Dam State Park in Penfield, PA, in Paul’s memory.
