Patricia Ann Nape, 85, of Lafayette passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at The Springs of Lafayette surrounded by her family.
She was born May 17, 1933 in Riverside, IN to the late Raymond H. and Margaret (Stivers) Johnson. Patricia (Patty) attended Oakland K-8 and graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1951. She married Jack Lee Nape in Lafayette on June 5, 1981, he survives.
Her first job was as a waitress at the Lafayette Cafe when she was a teenager. She later enjoyed a career as a telephone operator at GTE in Lafayette from 1954-1983 and Purdue University from 1983-1993. Patty enjoyed ceramics and making homemade noodles and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Purdue Boilermaker fan. She enjoyed reminiscing with the Lafayette “Live Wires” over lunch on a regular basis. Above all, Patty cherished time spent with her family.
Along with her husband, she is survived by 4 children, Randall (Janell) Smith of Huber Heights, OH; Christina Nape of Lafayette, Scott Nape of Lafayette, and Janell Nape of Huber Heights, OH; 8 grandchildren, David Anthony Smith, Stephanie Nicole Long (husband Dakota), Stacey Nicole Jennings (husband Justin), Alexander Ray Smith, Emily Nicole Smith, Amber Nicole Nape, Ashley Kay Grott, Anthony Lee Nape; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Margaret Johnson and 2 brothers, Harold and Maurice Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Patricia’s name to the Lafayette Catholic School System (LCSS) or to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, June 29, 2018 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette.
Interment will follow at Rossville Cemetery in Rossville.
