Norman Kendrick, 86, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at IU Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette.
He was born February 15, 1937, in Indianapolis, to Norman and Mary (Busch) Kendrick. He was a graduate of Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis. He worked as a Steelworker for the United Steel Workers Union, as well as for McBroom Electric. Norman retired from ALCOA after 27 years of service.
Norman enjoyed reading, gardening, and landscaping when time permitted. He also loved, raised, and protected all animals. He also loved the game of football. His grandchildren were his world.
Surviving are his 6 children, Jason P. (Kelly) Kendrick of Lafayette, Norman (Trudy) Kendrick III of Cartersville, GA, Amanda (James) Search of Kettering, OH, Lamonte S. (Tanya) Kendrick of Indianapolis, Lori L. Dickerson of Indianapolis, and Robin R. Hill of Cleveland, OH; a sister, Ellenoris Nelson of Indianapolis; 16 grandchildren, Erica, Blake, Keyana, Tristan, Dynasty, Christian, Zane, Liam, Leah, Kasha (Deveonn), Kingston, Ash, Channel, Candice, Brandon, Anthony, Assata, and Bryana; and 10 great-grandchildren, Lumen, Ellie, Deveon, Dewon, Jalean, Denise, Kayden, Khyler, Kolsen, and Korren.
Along with his parents, Norman and Mary Kendrick; Norman was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jo Hopson and daughter, Steveanna Sears.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be from 3:00 pm until time of service at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at River City Church, 108 Beck Lane, Lafayette, IN 47909.
