Nicolai Alexander Favstritsky, 86, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at IU Health Arnett Hospital.
He was born June 29, 1937, Shanghai, China to the late Nicolai and Sophia (Soohanov) Favstritsky. Nicolai received his master’s degree from Yale University in 1965, and his doctorate degree from Oregon State in 1969. He served honorably in the United States Army Reserves and was called to active duty from October 1961-July 1962. On March 14, 1970, he married Graciela Stemmer in Bogota, Columbia and she survives.
Nicolai worked as a Research Chemist for the former Great Lakes Chemical Company of West Lafayette. He was an inventor and holder of dozens of patents to his name. He was a member of Phi Lambda Epsilon and Sigma Xi.
Along with his wife, Graciela Helena Favstritsky of Lafayette, he is survived by his daughter, Natasha F. George of Mooresville; 3 grandchildren, Hannah E. George, Nicolai A. George, and Carys Z. George.
Nicolai was preceded in death by his parents, Nicolai Alexander and Sophia Marie Favstritsky; and 2 brothers, Anatole “Tony” and Boris “Bob” Favstritsky.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until time of service at 4:00 pm, Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Rev. Ed Morrow officiating.
