Monica (Faupl) Minalga, passed away peacefully, on the afternoon of August 21, 2022, at her home in Lafayette, surrounded by her children.
She was born April 20, 1954, in Aurora, IL to the late John and Anna Maria (Seifert) Faupl. She was the 2nd of 5 children. Monica attended St. Nicholas Elementary School and East Aurora High School, both in Aurora, IL. Following her high school graduation in 1972, she started a job at Label Printers. On May 29, 1976, she married Michael S. Minalga, and he survives. Monica worked for many years in the Accounting Department at Dot Packaging and Hyperedge, before retiring in 2005, to become a full-time grandma.
She was a devout Catholic and a member of Annunciation Parish in Aurora, IL for over 30 years until moving to Indiana to be near her daughter’s family. Once in Lafayette, she became a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Monica was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary and strived to be as good as a mother as Mary, Mother of God. She lived for her family and devoted every minute to making them happy. Monica loved to sew and bake for her grandchildren. She loved spoiling her grandchildren!
Along with her husband, Michael, Monica is survived by and was the proud mother of 2 children, Erik (Molly) Minalga of Geneva, IL and Diane (Mark) Friel of Lafayette. She was the proud Oma to 7 grandchildren, Andrew Friel, Sean Minalga, Maggie Friel, Luke Friel, Ian Minalga, Anna Minalga, and Ella Minalga. She is also survived by her 4 siblings, Karl Faupl, Joan (Bruce) Frantzen, John (Val) Faupl, and Mary (Chad) Deking; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, John and Anna; and sister-in-law Betty Faupl.
Memorial contributions in Monica’s name, may be given to St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1916 Meharry St., Lafayette, IN 47904.
Visitation followed by a Funeral Mass, will be on Friday, September 2, 2022, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1916 Meharry St., Lafayette, IN 47904.
Interment will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
