Mildred G. (Platt) McDole, 99, of Lafayette, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette.
She was born June 12, 1924, in Lafayette to the late Raymond and Clella (Fleming) Platt. She was a 1942 graduate of Clarks Hill High School. On September 5, 1942, she married her best friend and love of her life, Byron E. McDole. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2010.
Mildred was a proud homemaker, who enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She also liked to play euchre, dominoes, and Yahtzee. She was also a caretaker and a Girl Scout Leader and was a Purdue and Cubs fan. She loved to make and eat home-made ice cream. She cherished her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Hope Chapter #5 and attended Heritage United Methodist Church and Stockwell United Methodist.
She is survived by her 4 children, Jerry (Jeanne) McDole of Streetsboro, OH, Harry (Barbara) McDole of Lafayette, Gary (Patsy) McDole of Lafayette, and Diane (Richard) Troxel of Lafayette; 10 grandchildren, Scott (Melissa) McDole, Aaron McDole, Jason (Letta) McDole, Tracey (Michael) Harris, Bragg McDole, TaLarha (Pete) Illingworth, Shondra (Stump) Engibous, and Ashlaine (Ryan) Zimmerman, Justin (Holly) Troxel, and Sarah (Dustin) Dalton; 25 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Along with her husband, Byron McDole, and her parents, Raymond and Clella Platt, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Rosemary Carlson, Phyllis Jackson, and Sharon Need; and her brother, Gareld Platt.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, when the Eastern Star service begins, followed by the funeral service, Monday, December 4, 2023, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twickenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 1200 Sagamore Pkwy N, Lafayette, IN 47904.
