Michael “Mike” Lynn Hatfield

Michael L. Hatfield, 75, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Born on February 18, 1951, in Monroe, Michigan, Michael was the son of Luna and Beatrice (McBee) Hatfield. On April 15, 1978, he married Betty Miller, beginning a devoted marriage that lasted 48 years.
Michael graduated from Claiborne County High School in New Tazewell, Tennessee, in 1969. After relocating to Lafayette, he worked for Duncan Electric, Irvin’s Concrete Products, and Fox Hauling before retiring from Vulcan Materials. Mike was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local #103 and was a member of Pyrmont Church of the Brethren.
An appreciation for the outdoors and a deep love for family defined Michael’s life. Known for a kind spirit and a ready smile, Michael took great joy in making others happy and bringing light to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Luna (Ruby) Hatfield; mother, Beatrice (G.L.) Hurst JR; and his twin daughters, Allison and Beatrice.
Michael is survived by his wife, Betty Hatfield; his sons, Ryan Hatfield and Travis (Rose) Hatfield; his grandson, Henry Hatfield; and his sister, Tammy (Keith) DeHaven.
Memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s memory to Pyrmont Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, In 47909.
Interment will follow at Pyrmont Cemetery.
