Michael L. Bookwalter, 66, of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 at his residence.
He was born December 31, 1957, in Lafayette, to the late Roger H. and Nancy L. (Hayes) Bookwalter.
Michael graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1976 and attended Purdue University.
He was a veteran of the Army serving in the 82nd Airbourne Division.
After serving in the Army, Michael worked for Warren Paper and then went to work for over 30 years at Fairfield Manufacturing before retiring in 2023.
He was a member of American Legion Post # 11 and enjoyed board and computer games.
Surviving is a sister, Christina (husband Jamie) Keating of Lafayette and a brother, Mark D. Bookwalter of Attica. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Stuart (wife Carolyn) Bookwalter, Cody Bookwalter, Damien Bookwalter, Dalton Bookwalter, Amanda (husband Christian) Salguerio, Karrie Keating, Erika Keating and Jarad Keating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 16, 2024 also at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, with Pastor Eric Schneider officiating. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette with American Legion Post # 11 military rights.
Memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s name to Boys Town at 14100 Crawford St. Boys Town, NE 68010
