Melody A. (Crider) Anderson, 73, of Lafayette, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024, at IU Health Arnett, Lafayette.
She was born June 27, 1950, in Kokomo to the late Elmer Joseph and Myrtice (Gosnell) Crider II. She received her high school diploma and then earned her Cosmetology degree from St. James. On January 1966, she married Donald Barkley, the couple later divorced. In 1996, she married David R. Anderson. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2022. Melody worked as a bartender for the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #347 until her retirement.
She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards, gambling, and darts. She also enjoyed fishing and camping. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Melody was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #347 Women’s Auxiliary where she served as President of the Auxiliary. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her 3 children, Tresa (Skip) Patterson of Frankfort, Bridget Smith of Frankfort, and Donna (Terry) Holt of Lafayette; 4 grandchildren, Damon (Mitchell) Holt of Lafayette, Nicole Jacobs of Illinois, Krista Louks of Frankfort, and Cody (Mariah Merrill) Louks of Frankfort; 5 great-grandchildren, 3 siblings, Rose (Richard) Henline, Chrystopher Crider, and Randall S. (Kathy) Crider; and 2 sisters-in-law, Judy Crider and Ann Crider.
Along with her parents, Elmer Joseph and Myrtice Crider II, she was preceded in death by her 4 siblings, Elmer Crider III, Clinton Crider Sr., Ronald K. Crider, and Patricia Crider; 1 son-in-law, James Smith.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette.
