Maurice V. Steelman, 87, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 in Lafayette.
He was born June 23, 1930, in Tilton, IL, to the late William A. Steelman and Mary Aldridge Steelman.
Moe graduated from Danville High School, Danville, Illinois. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. On June 18, 1960, he married Jeannine Roberta Mazzarelle and she passed away December 2, 2009. Moe worked as a Salesperson for NABISCO for 30 years, retired in 1990.
He enjoyed volunteering with Purdue International Center, Read to Succeed Program at Murdock Elementary and Lafayette Adult Reading Academy.
Surviving are Daughter, Thea (Jeremy) Denton, son, Bill Steelman, daughter, Maria (Mike) Dexter, daughter, Marisa Steelman (companion Rick Young) and grandchildren Nick, Adam, Morgan, Jannica, great grandchildren Joshua, Cade, Callie, Cora, Cagney, Brayton, Zaine and Westyn. Moe was preceded in death by Grandson Grant O’Connor and two brothers and a sister
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday April 5, 2018 at Soller- Baker Funeral Home 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette. Service 10:00 am on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Soller- Baker Funeral Home 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette. Memorial Contributions may be made to Lafayette Adult Reading Academy.
