Matthew Prelock

Matthew Prelock, 67, of Lafayette, IN, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Lake Health West Medical Center.
He was born June 23, 1958, in Cleveland, OH, to the late Robert and Ruth (Krasovec) Prelock.
Matthew attended Lake Catholic High School in Mentor, Ohio.
On May 19, 1984, he married Esther Smith at Faith Baptist Church in Lafayette, IN.
Matthew worked as a Millwright for Republic Steel until 1983. He moved to Lafayette, IN, and worked for Caterpillar until 2013 when he retired. He worked at Magnetation until 2015, then went back to Caterpillar until 2021.
He was an active member of Kossuth St Baptist Church in Lafayette, IN.
Matthew enjoyed gardening to the extreme while running Prelock Blueberry Farm from 1994-2017. He also enjoyed cooking, hospitality, scuba diving, motorcycles, and just being outdoors. He did not know a stranger.
Surviving Matthew is his wife, Esther (Smith) Prelock, and Sons, Aaron (Kathryn) Prelock and Joseph (Emily) Prelock, and his 7 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Kossuth Street Baptist Church in Lafayette, IN, on August 16 at 3 pm.
