Mary L. Beaver, 79, of West Lafayette, passed away at 5:40 PM Sunday, March 24, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Central. She was born July 22, 1933, in Riverside, to the late Glen H. and Thelma Loveall Childress. She attended Jackson and Shadeland Schools. On August 26, 1950 she married Donald Gale Beaver in Greencastle. He died September 18, 1986. Mary had worked at General Foods for 18 years before retiring in 1989 then went on to work at Sunshine Laundry for 7 years and Scrub-A-Dub for 5 years. She was a member of the Eagles and Moose Auxiliaries and enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting and her dog Heidi. Surviving are a daughter Bonita Slaughterbeck (husband James) of Delphi, two sons Ronald L. Beaver (wife Evelyn) of Lafayette, Gary L. Beaver of Colfax; five sisters Ellen Smith (husband Chet) of IL, Virginia Fletcher of Williamsport, Eleanor Childress, Allene Childress both of Lafayette, Rosella Liles of Crawfordsville, Carl Childress (wife Carolyn) of Peru; two brothers Raymond Childress (wife Beverly), Robert Childress (wife Bonnie) both of Attica; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and 4 stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
