Mary E. (Beever) Butler, 98, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
She was born March 19, 1927, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Vern and Ruby (Cook) Beever.
Mary graduated from Shadeland High School.
On October 17, 1948, she married Edwin R. Butler at Stidham United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2005.
She was a member of Stidham United Methodist Church, the Women’s Society of Christian Service, and served as Past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star.
Mary enjoyed cooking, canning, flower and vegetable gardening and sewing.
Surviving is a son, Marvin Butler of Clinton, NY, a daughter, Janice M. Skinner of Lafayette, and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Butler. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jason (Sarah) Skinner, Jennifer (Josh) Dimmett and Laura (Matt) Gross as well as five great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by a son, Keith Edwin Butler, four brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, with Rev. David Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Stidham United Methodist Church Building Fund.
